Go Go Smoothie...

Today, I'm excited to share with you my favourite smoothies. I have having a clear out at the weekend in the kitchen, I had too many applications and my mother said I have to get rid. I found my favourite smoothie maker, K-MIX Blender and I have a NutriBullet that I bought a few weeks ago but haven't had time to use it yet but my best friend has one, it's amazing so quick and easy to use. So I'm heading into Louth laters, to get some fruit etc and make myself a perfect smoothie.

 I'm a smoothie lover, and I've started to make them for a healthy breakfast, a nutritious snack, an afternoon pick me up and, after a quick workout, a recovery drink.

When I'm feeling lazy, I just go to the store and grab myself a Innocent - Strawberry and Banana. I love those wooly knitted hats seriously it's the cutest thing ever. I also love homemade smoothies, in the summer, don't really have time in the winter. 

So stop wasting money on expensive, sugary frozen drinks from big chain coffee shops, whip up your own using fresh, healthful ingredients in the NutriBullet.


A smoothie is a great way to get those phytonutrients into your diet (and you kids too). Adding a dairy free protein power to your smoothie can boost energy and enhance immunity. We also like to add healthy fats such as coconut, almonds, avocado and chia seeds that will leave your skin glowing and your stomach feeling satisfied.

Here is a round-up of some of my favourite smoothie recipe.

1. Breakfast Smoothie
A great grab and go breakfast for all the family.

Ingredients:

1 Frozen Banana
1 Handful of baby spinach
1 tbsp oats
1 tsp almond butter or a few nuts
1 date pitted
1 tsp coconut oil
300ml coconut/almond milk
1 cup ice cubes

Method:
Blend the ingredients - add a little more coconut or almond milk to your liking. Serve immediately.

2. Grapefruit Pomegranate:

Ingredients:
2 cups frozen strawberries
1 1/2 cups green tea ice
1 cup grapefruit, peeled, de-seeded and chopped
1 1/2 cups pomegranate juice
2 teaspoons ginger power
sweetener, to taste

Method: 
Blend all the ingredients together until frosty. taste, and sweeten as desired.

3. Purple Smoothie Pops

Ingredients: 
2 cups plain Greek yogurt
2 cups frozen blueberries
2 cups frozen mixed berries (or frozen strawberries)
1/4 cup honey
1 banana, peeled
1/4 head red cabbage
1 cup cranberry or grape juice (or any deep red/purple juice)

Method:
Add the yogurt, frozen berries, honey, banana and cabbage to a blender. Then pour in the juice and blend until smooth!
Pour into ice-pop holds and stash in the freezer until totally frozen. Remove and eat as required!
